The décor was meant to be a beach theme--but we ended up a bit more luau. In this picture you can see the kids breaking into their hula dances :) You can also see my sweet palm tree . . . oh yeah, first try.
Below, Chauncey seemed to think the poof balls were a barrier that he could not cross. Eventually he just decided to lay ON them, which made the kids laugh.

Our first day is generally pretty easy, and this day was no exception . . . until all the "mom check" started rolling in, holy moly, and this wasn't the end of it! How did I end up with so much homework? :)

After playing outside for awhile, and then disentangling my hair from a rogue curling iron, we scooted over to the girls' friend E's swim meet. She's homeschooled, but she's dual enrolling with a local high school to be on their swim team. She was excited our crew came to watch her, and I was excited it wasn't terribly far from our house :) Some of these meets last hours and are states away, but this one wrapped up by dinnertime.
Not a bad start to school!
