Farm Morning, Karate Evening

A couple from our small group bought a hobby farm a couple years ago. Their two little girls decided they want to buy a Saint Bernard puppy. As a fun, open-house, fundraiser-type event, they hosted an "open farm." We had a very short amount of time to visit for the first time (because our girls were helping judge karate testing after lunch), but we made the most of it. Muriel's first hayrack ride, her first interaction with pigs and kittens (from which I feel Buck was not practicing appropriate social distancing ;), and I got to see the huge chicken/turkey/duck enclosure flanked by a tiered garden, pretty sweet!

The afternoon brought tree and chicken chores, and then Caelan and I headed to her testing. Not very often do the kids not test together, but she "needs to" earn her 4th degree the fastest (Graysen has six years, because you can't get it until you turn 18). Caelan was also awarded her red/black teaching collar and certificate. Exciting stuff! (That she is the school seamstress and now has three collars to sew on, including one for her sister, well, she's not as excited about that, ha!)
