Later that day, with the help of some spray adhesive and painter's tape, the glittering of the goat took place--quite sparkly, indeed! I also utilized some of Graysen's pink GJ wedding shirt glitter iron-on to create the grand prize of the GGGG . . . isn't it lovely? Of course, no NYE celebration is complete without sparkly headbands for all, so I made a bunch (and now need to buy more Velcro ;)
Buck got up at 5 a.m. to start smoking pork in the wedding smoker (I told you we use it a lot :) We attended church (woot!) together and sat with my bro and sis-in-law plus kiddos, plus my mom. Such a full row! Because my G4 idea was pretty last minute, our guests ran to the store after church on their way to our house to get their last-minute gift grabs. My only rule (other than $10-15 or under) was no Christmas-themed wrapping paper. My Crew accepted the challenge! There was duct tape, knitting yarn, tin foil, and some of my graduation napkin supply. Buck went for actual gift bags and tissue paper, while my brother chose the bag his gift was placed in when it was purchased. There were some really good gifts, especially for less than 24 hour's notice!
Brennen didn't have much time before he needed to leave for work, so he went first. My brother drew the final number, so he got to pick the glitter goat number--it was three! That meant that whatever gift was selected third not only became the Glitter Goat Gift of the day, but it could be stolen an unlimited number of times during the game. Whoever ended up with the glitter goat received the golden box of wonder--which contained the G4 t-shirt. To add to the festivity--handfuls of confetti were generously tossed at anyone who claimed the Glitter Goat prize! We had disco hits playing in the background and disco lights (from wedding number one) keeping beat with the tunes. My brother looked at Mr. M and said, "You have no idea what is going on right now, do you?" Lol, that was one perplexed kid! But, hey, presents ;)
Everyone wore their sparkle headbands--I even made one for the baby, but she was taking a nap on our bed. I remember when we would have family gatherings at my grandma's house when I was little; all the babies would be lined up on the bed for their naps, and I loved to go in and just look at them :) Oh, but back to the headbands--Olive was so intrigued that Buck put one on her head. Olive decided they weren't as cool as she thought, and promptly removed the sparkle :)
I tried to get a pic with everyone in it, but only got half of Brennen and none of Buck . . . still, not bad for a group shot across an entire room!
Noah's G4 gift stopped Brennen in his tracks! Heehee :) Below, Gabby took a pocketknife to Caelan's layers and layers of yarn (with unused puppy poop bag inside) . . . it turned out to be a pretty iridescent purple coffee mug with some Starbuck's hot chocolate packets inside.
My mom was not too impressed with the life-sized gummy snakes, but Graysen was quick to grab that and the big bag of Mike and Ike's, which Chase made possible by stealing the *fox riding a moped* socks that Noah brought :) My brother and K purchased cans of flame retardant, which ended up in the correct hands, Chase's. LOL! Gabby said they took it to the farm when the boys were lighting off fireworks (but didn't have to use it). The Glitter Goat Gift was a giant water bottle Gabby stuffed with Bob's stripe mint candies. In the end, everyone kind of traded around for what they most wanted--Mr. M got the science experiments I originally intended for him . . . the baby got a coffee mug, but the way she was sucking on her mom's coffee cup during church, she might be using it sooner rather than later :)
When the final confetti floated to the ground, I gave Caelan her belated birthday gift (because the Amazon lady delivered the last part of it during our game :) On Christmas, she changed her mind from wanting to get her hair done, to a bunch of Christmas and Barbie movie DVDs, along with some plant money, so I got that together for her. I guess she got a lot of birthdays this year, too!
Our pulled pork meal was super tasty! We had salad and potato salad and beans and charcuterie and (have you noticed I skip the commas in these long *and* lists? :) all the yumminess to be had during a time of fellowship around the extended table. The twist-top case of root beer Buck grabbed when we went shopping turned out to be even more popular than lemonade. It is really good!
After the meal, Chase and G$ headed to C's 18th birthday party festivities, while Gabby headed home for some quiet. The other newlyweds packed up Scarlet and headed to Noah's family's house for a fun evening of board games. We actually did the same, by accepting an invitation to my brother and sister-in-law's house to FINALLY learn Wingspan (and to hold the baby some more :)
We finished up the game just before 11 PM, which was early enough to see the countdown and ball drop in other time zones (we happened to notice when there were just 46 seconds on the clock!) We did our NY kissies, and then were told to stop again under a sparkle of mistletoe hung above the front door by my sis-in-law. So much kissing! Lol :) And as soon as we got in the car to drive home--BeReal went off.

Caelan enjoyed the Settlers of Catan game from her NYE so much, she called to ask if we'd go halfsies with her if she bought it while she was out running errands. Buck and I played and enjoyed it a decade ago with friends in our last town, so we said, "Sure!" It worked out that she had a crowd to teach when she arrived; it was fun watching them play :)
