(Side note: when we went to pick up the balloon and flowering plant for him, the girl who worked at the flower shop happened to be our neighbors' twenty-something daughter. She told us about Caelan's prom date coming in and ordering flowers and how she knew exactly who he was taking to prom. He told her, "I got a good one!" [prom date], and she agreed. Aww so sweet! And as our conversation moved to dresses and hair and make-up, the flower-shop gal said our girls were welcome to come raid the dresses she and her sister wore to proms and homecomings! Awesome! I'm guessing those gowns (from the past five-ish years) are slightly more in-style than mine (from 20 plus years ago) or those of our other neighbor (who offered hers from about 15 years ago :)
Our trip to the bakery resulted in a box of deliciousness in trade for Graysen's bottle caps--man we're going to miss them being open for business at their store front!

On Friday, the "triplets'" first choir concert took place at a local nursing home . . . that had them listed to sing on another date! More than sixty performers, plus instruments, plus parents, plus siblings (since they're all homeschooled) crowded into the reception area while the administrators scrambled to make the impending performance fit their schedule and space. A couple moms and I helped move all the tables that weren't occupied and kind of randomly set up chairs in the empty spaces. It was hot and a bit chaotic, but the kids didn't seem to notice. Okay, well maybe a couple of them did. One girl got overwhelmed by the heat and had to leave. B has been fighting allergies or something, so his cough overcame him and he had to leave the group and come sit with me near an open window. Dude didn't feel good at all! I'm sure he will be better for the big show this weekend :)

So after the individual prelude performances, the teen choir sang, then the elementary choir, then the girls ensemble (Caelan has a solo, it's a song from the play Wicked), then the teens again, then ALL the kids together. They sounded great! From what I could hear. The staff decided to fire up the popcorn machine behind me and to run it while filling crackling paper bags of popcorn during the ENTIRE performance, lol! I know many of the kids were grateful for this salty reward after their musical afternoon :) And the popping and bagging process was not at ALL distracting, ha!

Wow, that's a large group when they are all together.
