For beach week at karate, the girls wanted to go to the craft store to buy leis and other tropical items to wear to class and to work. I said, "Let's save your money and see what we can make from things we have around the house." How cute did this lei made of crepe paper streamers turn out?! I think this would be a fun project to teach the teen girls in Africa when we go. Super simple, just stringing the crepe paper on a needle and thread, right down the middle :)
Gabby wore her pineapple (or mango?) shirt for fun in the sun (although technically the studio doesn't even have windows, so no sun is available for fun :) The kids' friend Nick is heading off to college at the start of next week, so they've been doing extra sparring sessions (off class schedule) and other fun things at karate to say farewell for now. He and Caelan recreated one of their prom or homecoming (I can't remember which) photos in quite different attire :)
And of course Chauncey is ALWAYS up for a party . . . some might say he's a party animal (lol!) He's resigned to our costuming. Just as long as his food dish is filled and we let him out to the yard when he whines, all decorations are just part of what he patiently endures :)
And Miss Muri got some new squeaky toys--this fits my post theme because . . . people drink pop on the beach and the last picture was of a dog? :) Anyway, aww, isn't she cute? Chauncey is SO jealous of her new toys, because he is NOT allowed anything with a squeaker in it. He's proved his lack of self control in that area all too well, whew!

The leis turned out really nice and everyone looks pretty beachy, including Chauncey, who looks very dapper in his lei.
