Several years ago, we built bags to give away to homeless askers who often stand on intersections and off ramps in our community. These little bags blessed several men and women, but we've been out of them for quite a long time. Finally, we had a little room in our giving budget to build a new set of bags. The kids each took $20 and shopped the dollar store for items they thought would benefit someone without basic necessities. They did a great job! We were able to add even more from the store and some abundance we had at home.
Assembly waited for Caelan to return home from work and her music mentorship (the rest of us took an evening off of youth group--it's really hard to get there every week during the summer). I like these projects because they make us think, pray, and recognize that it's not that hard to help others. I like to take pictures, so the kids remember simple projects to honor God and care for fellow humans are easily within their grasp and ability. It was a fun family project and I'm looking forward to handing bags through our car windows, whether the askers are "genuine" homeless or not, everybody could use a fresh pair of socks and some ramen :)

I got the idea from you and I have also been out of bags. I had a couple that I had not given out that had bars of soap, gum, and water bottles. Well, evidentally, the stuff had been in the bags long enough so that the gum and water both tasted like soap!!!! Not good.
Lol! One of Buck's bags was in the car so long, mice found it 😜🐀
