Although this event came chronologically AFTER our trip to Florida, it will take far less time to update than a week's worth of tropical adventures :) While we were on vacation, the girls worked on hairstyle ideas. Caelan was Gabby's stylist and our friend Sam from church was Caelan's make-up artist. Another friend stopped by with her birthday girl to collect eggs during the glamorizing--such a fun welcome home!
It was also fun that Buck had this dance day off, that's never happened before! He usually just sees pictures, but doesn't get to see the fancy lad and lasses in all their finery before the event begins. When we planned this time off, we thought we might be getting our second chance at Africa. Not quite yet. Caelan wanted to be home from our back-up plan (spring break) in time for her senior prom. Mission accomplished! So, Buck had a couple of vacation days worked into our return, which was really nice for everyone.
We met friends in the garden behind the event hall. It is fun to see all the girls dressed up in their finery--and Brennen. He was the only boy in this scenario :) He did find his friends eventually, as you'll see in later photos. Also, Caelan likes how her dress can spin, so she got some spin pics on her phone and some professional spin pics by my NGF. She is not lacking in spin dress photos!
They are a bit taller than the past daddy daughter dance photos that we have in the photo album :)
Because the dance and after prom were pretty far from home, we rented a hotel room to hang out in between drop offs and pick ups. We got smoothies, watched guys build big fish tanks in weird places for rich people, and then all the kids so far pictured took turns changing out of their fancy into after prom fun clothes. They played basketball and laser tag and bowling and video games--all kinds of funness! I fell asleep reading and woke up just in time to tell Buck, "We need to check out and go pick up those kids!" He thought they were done at 2:30 a.m. It was a pretty funky, cool hotel, and the lobby was hopping with sports teams and all sorts of people even at 1:15!
Caelan was super surprised and honored to be part of the Prom Court! Their friend Kyle ended up King. They had a "tell people to vote for me and I'll tell people to vote for you" agreement ahead of time :) It was a pretty special way to celebrate the near end of Caelan's senior year!
I think by 1 PM the next day (technically the same day!), everyone was starting to wake up and roll out of their rooms :) A good time for all the Crew--well, maybe Graysen would disagree, but those smoothies were legit!
