Art, Soap, and Visitors

The kids have been taking art lessons from Mr. K for more than a year, now. He wondered if they'd like to try something more than sketching and shading, and suggested watercolor painting. They said, "Yes!!" So now, each week the kids have a homework assignment to work on whatever technique they learned during lesson. When they turn their assignment in, Mr. K gets to guess who painted which picture. Can you guess which picture Mr. K painted? :)

Caelan is ever on the look-out for more do-it-yourself products. She's done face things, lip things, lotion things, and now she's making her own soap! It is pink and smells like roses :) Hobby Lobby helps her in her hobby beauty products line. Here is the soap . . .

Here is the soap maker! (I missed her actually making the soap because I was checking summer school stacks of books; p.s. she is NOT eating the soap in this picture--it is one of the million desserts that have been produced in our kitchen in the past week or two :)

We had some sort of surprise guests this week. I say "sort of" because mom did text me the day before and mentioned they might be stopping by. Then Aunt Ellen texted to say, "Google thinks it knows where you live  . . . we want to see that poor chicken." Lol! She and Mark took a full tour of the house and pet populations; Aunt E got to pet a hedgehog and a chicken--she's a good sport :) It was only an hour-long visit, but Graysen made them banana bread (one loaf with chocolate chips) and we got to catch up a little before they continued their trip East.

Colorado

We took the world's fastest--and slowest--trip to Colorado for Buck's stepmom's memorial service. I say fastest, because it took...
