Baseball Grand Finale

Thunder, lightning, torrential rain . . . not a great night for baseball, right? Wrong! A surprised group of parents and grands arrived at the ball field for an 8 PM make-up game. "I was in my pajamas on the couch ready to watch my shows, and then they said we were still playing." Ha. Yes. What?! It turned out that the ballfields and the weather at the ballfields was actually pretty pleasant. I'm not sure if they specifically selected this section of the city due to weather pattern avoidance, but somehow the area looked nothing like the high wind (Buck said the trees at work were bending in half and the sky was inky black) wetness the rest of us were experiencing.

It was also the final game of the boys' little league season. Just for fun, the coaches mixed it up bringing their outfield to the infield (there's Graysen on second base!) and their pitcher to the catching position?! What?! :)

I guess when Brennen repeatedly suggested that our catcher could use a little help in that double header that didn't end the way they'd hoped, he suggested himself. He's never caught in a practice or a game ever. But anyone might help bail the team out of the current situation. Fast forward a week, and there's B's name on the catch position list. Much like Graysen, he thought it was so much fun! Don't you love how he towers over the batter? Mr. B looked pretty cool out there in that gear.

Even crouching he's about the same size as the batter (who was a bit smaller than the average player).

As the sun set, Graysen was on deck and Brennen had just hit a double. You can see them both in this picture, along with Caelan's prom/work friend who was shocked to discover the opposing competitor was his former little league team! Alas, what is a guy to do? Cheer for everyone I guess :)

The boys played a really good game and finished with a win! Overall they had a winning season despite the rain and lack of practices. All the boys improved in their skills and it was a fun season to watch . . . all seven months of it  . . . lol :) Okay, it was only an extra six weeks beyond the original six weeks they signed up for. We go from winter coats and hot chocolate to shorts and ice water in the same season. Ahhh, summer league.

Sounds like the boys really enjoyed baseball this year and had a good team.

Colorado

We took the world's fastest--and slowest--trip to Colorado for Buck's stepmom's memorial service. I say fastest, because it took...
