We Interrupt This Vacation

For PUPPIES!! I know, you've been missing them. I still have the smell of their warm, soft fur on my hands, so I'll just write about them quick. Since Buck and I visited five days ago, they have gotten loads of tiny sharp teeth, started eating a little formula and mash, started some potty pad training, are beginning to play wrestle each other, and they can walk!! Well, sort of!! Ha :) Their legs are still a little wobbly holding up all that weight (they are still just a couple pounds behind the big puppies). Today, we got to help introduce them to drinking water from a bowl--Piper figured it out right away, Fern just slept through the introduction. Oh, and they can go outside to play! But they mostly just nap in the shade there, too :)

Because both of Noah's parents are celebrating their 50th birthdays this week, Noah and Caelan were nearby (they surprised his family with an extended visit :) While everyone was at work, they drove up to visit the four-legged furballs. Olive was very excited to see the fiances and to have Noah play tug with her. She was a bit surprised when they started picking puppies from the big pack to take outside to play with--then ALL the big puppies got to come tumbling out the door! Olive stood in the window a bit in shock that we were playing with any dog but her :) But goodness, those puppies!!

This one was particularly curious about my camera, ha! They are in the six-week-old *chew on everything* stage :) Fingers, hands, clothing, hair, the socks in my pocket, the phone in my hand, (Buck's beard when we were there last week) . . . everything is tasty! It's amazing how close they already are to moving on to their next stage of becoming service dogs. It sounds like there are places for eight puppies at the training facility, so a few of these cuties will likely be up for adoption? Caelan picked her favorite, then another favorite, and finally admitted, "They are all my favorite." No puppies for them yet, though :)

Because they are small and don't regulate heat very well, playtime outside is a pretty short opportunity. After putting the big puppies back in their elaborate cage system, it was our little puppies' turn again. However, Miss Fern was still crashed out from her earlier playtime when I first arrived. That's a lot of sweet bulk to move around! But we did get them up and moving a little as you can see in the videos :)

Piper and Fern are finally old enough for visitors outside of our family! The breeder said the more they are held by a variety of people the better for their social development. So, we plan to take a vanload out to visit this weekend when Grandma J is here from CA and Noah's mom and sisters are available, too. All the puppies should be able to play, so it will be a fun hour or so. Let the oooing and aaaahing begin!
