SUPER Impressed

Earlier this week, my friend in Georgia texted me. She bakes (she's amazing!) for a coffee shop and showed Caelan's mug sweaters to the owner (the sweaters were Tam's idea in the first place :) The coffee-shop owner loved them, and ordered FIFTY a.s.a.p.!! Caelan immediately hired her sister, and they went to work knitting (even in school :) I helped with the button sewing and the washing and set up an email account for the Blooming business ;) Caelan redesigned her product tag and then used my birthday paper cutter (so handy!) to prep 50 plus of them. Gabby spent probably half an hour tying said tags onto the finished products. Just three days after the order came in--they'd completed 25 cup and mug sweaters, half the order! We shipped them to be sold in time for Christmas. Whew!



In the meantime, we picked up a bag full of grandpa shirts from the family who lost their loved one. They are actually more like lined coats, with the quilting like Grandpa Leonard used to wear. The girls found the grandpa's gloves still in a pocket (oh, my heart!). Each shirt/jacket has layers of fabric, which the girls can (and will) use as accent pieces for the bears. It really worked out wonderfully as far as fabric is concerned!

As soon as the first shipment of mug sweaters was in the mail, the girls switched focus to teddy bear building. A total of five bears are now in the works! We thought this family only wanted three, but when the lady saw that they weren't just flops of cloth--but that they actually sit up and have faces; well, I guess she was sobbing! So much more than she expected! The first two bears will be for twins and the other for their sibling--all under age five. Then the remaining bears will be for the lady's own teenaged son and daughter. Our farm friend, who is arranging all of this, keeps mentioning she wants bears too--but hasn't officially ordered. As soon as the first three (*by Christmas if possible*) bears are finished, the girls will switch back to knitting the rest of the Georgia order.


I'm not going to reveal their new talent to the world at large until after they've caught up on their current orders, just in case of an influx of *if possible by Christmas* orders :) Seriously proud of them though, who knew they could do this?!

And on top of all that, the girls have also been asked to play guitar and ukulele for a Christmas caroling outing to bless all our church staff next weekend . . . so, between sewing, knitting, and schooling, they are also learning chords and practicing songs for that event. I decided to close school three days early next week, just so they can catch up :)
