Brennen measured nine inches on our back deck patio table! He also did this barefoot, so his measurements might have been a tad hurried :) Although the snow plow didn't come until one o'clock (well, one did come after noon, but it got stuck because the big one hadn't been up yet), all the neighborhood kids were out playing and the dads and bigger kids (like ours) were out scooping.
We all came in for a break and watched our church service on facebook live. Later I went up to rescue the chickens (they won't step on white stuff). I dug out the hay box and covered their floor with dried grasses, broke up the ice in their water dish, gave them a bucket of turkey scraps, and shook some fresh food down from their feeder. They've got a solid roof of snow that is weighing down the chicken wire, so I tried to lighten that load a bit. All in all, it is pretty cozy and quiet up there in the coop. They haven't laid a single egg in weeks, as they all go through the molting process. Honey is looking good again, but just about everybody else is ugly :)
Meanwhile, Buck got the snow blower started (this has been a challenge in recent years) and taught the boys how to run it on a neighbor's driveway :) The rest of the day will be football and church school books! Staying warm and cozy on a chilly *fall* day :)
