Homeschool Par-tay :)

Our neighbor organized a homeschool party at her home . . . gotta love a party you can attend on foot :) We homeschool moms have come to the conclusion that it is NOT the children who need socialization (because we are constantly taking them to just such opportunities :), but WE, the homeschool mommas, who need socialization ;)

We got plenty of that as the day dawned warm, almost balmy! In the upper 40s, the children decided that shorts and bare feet were the thing to do . . . they went outside to play, while the moms sat inside with the snack table and chatted :) Eventually, all the walking kids made their way to our house and played for hours in our backyard. We kept an eye on them, and they'd show up every so often for refreshments, but we pretty much had mom time for the afternoon!

At one point, a possum showed up in the neighborhood. Another family called him into the animal control folks. Next thing animal control knows, nearly a dozen kids come flying up the cul-de-sac to "help," ha! I looked out the window and told my friend Glory, "I see the animal control lady with a net and your two boys under a tree." "What?!" The possum, apparently got away (and so did the animal control lady, as fast as she could :)

Speaking of strange animals, of course the crowd of kids wanted to see our new hedgie. And our hamster. And our, "Your dog is gigantic!" It was a wild 15 minutes with all those people and critter legs running up and down the stairs. One little guy said as he left, "I wish we all lived in the same neighborhood." Wouldn't that be fun?!

Wow, that would be fun if all those kids lived in the same neighborhood! Caelan's baby blanket turned out really cute.

Colorado

We took the world's fastest--and slowest--trip to Colorado for Buck's stepmom's memorial service. I say fastest, because it took...
