Last weekend there was an "unknown" glitch in the electrical grid 'round here. We spent about 2.5 hours in the dark . . . well, technically it was midafternoon, but it does get dark early! Eventually, we decided it would be a stove-top cooking kind of night. Whoohoo for a gas stove! (even the grill is electric now :) Buck and the kids started distributing our IKEA pack of tea lights in blue glasses all over the upstairs. Each kid came out with their own LED headlamp. Gab added a lantern. We found flashlights, loaded all our decorative candles into our main living space, and even set up the kerosene lamp . . . and then the power came back on :) But what do we adventurous Crew do? We plugged in the Christmas tree and turned the lights back OFF :) Breakfast cooked in the dark, eaten by kerosene light in the kitchen. Very mountain-cabin like of us, no?
Meanwhile, Buck's boss and his family lost power. His little boy said in shock, "Dad . . . the wifi isn't working," and then paced the floor in circles wondering what to do. They had no candles, no flashlights at the ready (they did just recently move here). When Buck told him our story, he just shook his head :) Too funny!

Always fun when you have power outages that don't last TOO long - and also if you have lots of candles! Adventures abound!
