With school on hold for Christmas break, the kids have a bit more time to dabble in their hobbies and hone their natural talents. Gabby decided to try painting off of a high-contrast photo she found online. She said she traced it on her laptop, blacked the back with charcoal pencils, transferred the highlights and lowlights onto the canvas by tracing the front again, and then painted away. I'd say it turned out pretty spectacular!
She was also inspired by a post that suggested making Baby Yoda cookies by taking the head off of an angel cookie cut-out. Our music pastor's wife sent one to rehearsal, and Gabby made a whole batch of Gorgoos (Grogoos, Googoos?) And to further highlight her talents, she successfully completed my brother, her Uncle C's, out-of-the-blue challenge to make a cookie look like my memoji. Funny enough, of all the llamas and Yodas she had baked, she had ONE round circle of leftover dough available to complete her challenge. Uncle C declared her success and awarded her 20 life points. We don't know what that means, but they're hoping it's like graduation bitcoin--the more they earn now, the more it pays off in their card? Lol, just kidding!
Caelan got the first Uncle C challenge--kick the star at the top of our Christmas tree. This is completely impossible, as the tree is 6 foot 5 and the girl is 5 foot 4, but we tried :) You can see it wasn't always a very comfortable thing to try. Her legs hurt after this challenge was done--the only way it sort of worked was if she stood on the couch, ha! And she might have also fallen off of the couch . . . Uncle C issued the same challenge to her taller brother, who responded, "I don't wanna." No life points for you, Brennen!
This was Buck's response to the challenge--I'm not sure that's what my brother had in mind. Life points still pending . . . ;)

I love Gabby's artwork and the creativity of the cookies...very cool! Yeah, although Buck's idea is creative, I don't think it counts towards life points!!
